Double whammy part 2---Miami Vice and Lady in the Water

I heard mixed reviews about Lady in the Water and I knew it was gonna be hit or miss.
Well right off the bat it was a hit with me.
I really liked this movie and the whole feel of it.
The story is really neat and it makes me wanna look up all the mythical characters to see where and what they are. I felt like looking up the info and that's a great trick a really good movie fools you into.
Think about it. When was the last time you saw a movie and wanted to look up the material comprising the plot.
I don't want to give too much of the plot but the characters really intrigued me.
So guess what I'll be doing in the weeks to come. Probably at work when I'm bored. :)
Miami never looked so bleak than in Michael Mann's retooled look at his 80's hit Miami Vice.
I liked the movie but I guess since I grew up in the Vice era I guess I wanted to relive a bit of that.
As some of you might know, I just moved from Miami so I found myself looking for certain locations that looked familiar. There were many scenes where that actually happened.
I kept looking for my old job which was in the downtown area but for the life of me I can't figure out why.
I didn't even like the job so why was I there searching for old locales and buildings.
And why didn't Michael show the whole South Beach area that he himself helped rebuild with this very same product.
Anyway a friend of mine who still lives in Miami says Miami is boycotting the movie cause after months of tying up traffic and such, they didn't have the common sense to show up for the premiere.
I don't know why they shunned the town but it just makes sense to do the premiere in the town your movie is based after.
Well if Sonny or Rico are ever on the west coast I'll have to ask them.

Double Whammy week w/ Click N My Super Ex Girlfriend

Well since both of these movies were luke warm cuties, I figured I'd toss them both in the same blog.
First off let me tell you that me and my Mom decided to see My Super Ex and no I'm not talking about Georgie Poo (wink wink) but the movie and then I said " Well why not just pop into Click then we can go see My Girlfriend."
So.... we ended up getting there early and watching Click and that ended at the same time Girlfriend started so you should've seen me trying to get my Mom out of one movie into the restroom then into a show already in previews.
Not an easy task.
I guess I should talk a bit about the movies; Ya Think!
Click was a movie that my sister Toni told me to go see cause she said Adam Sandler had really grew as an actor and his performance even made her cry.
Boy what a sucker she was. Falling for the oldest trick in the book. The old tear jerker moment with the sad dramatic music and the overly dramatic acting.
OK SO I CRIED TOO, YOU HAPPY!!!!!
I couldn't help myself. All the drama and sadness caught me off guard.
My Super Ex Girlfriend was the movie that we actually wanted to see so you can only guess that my expectations were higher for this one. But I did read the reviews so I had an idea that the premise was a bit shaky.
I was right.
Why did they make G-Girl so bad!
She was supposed to be the good guy but she was going around all stuck up and crabby.
HATED IT! YOU CAN GO GIRL, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE WITH THAT 'TUDE!
Anywho that's my opinion and I'm stickin' 2 it. :)

Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest - the Freakish Opus

(UPDATE!!! THIS FREAKING MOVIE BROKE ALL KINDS OF RECORDS OVER THE WEEKEND!!!INCLUDING STAR WARS EP III's ONE DAY RECORD OF 50 MIL TO MAKE 55 AND THE TOTAL WEEKEND TOTAL OF 114 SET BY MY BOY SPIDEY TO MAKE 135 MIL. DAM YOU PEOPLE FOR MAKING THIS GLORIFIED TRAILER A RECORD BREAKING FLICK)

This movie is all build-up.
Now that we got that out of the way let me tell you what I really feel. :)
I felt like I was watching a trailer for the real movie coming out next Whenever?
When is the next part coming out? I hear it's in the Memorial Day weekend.
Guess I'll have to do some research. :(
Let's start off on another foot now.
Let's talk about what I liked about this installment.
Johnny Depp is ALWAYS fun to watch and I just love this character. Capt. Jack Sparrow is so much fun to watch I just know that Depp must wait patiently for the phone to ring saying its time to go back to the Caribbean. The intensity was a bit off though and it looked more like he was just having a ball with Jack than really putting forth that Oscar caliber performance. And that's OK. He doesn't have to always give us his very best. Sometimes it nice to see him have some fun.
Orlando Bloom has been gone for far to long. It was real good to see him back as William Turner. Another great performance from an actor I just love. Orlando has such a terrific presence on screen and blended with Depp it's just a pleasure to see.
Kiera was a pleasure as well in a role that she seems to fit right into.
So your probably asking yourself, if everyone was such a pleasure and joy to watch how come I said those negative things at the beginning?
Well its because this movie was a waste of time!
It was all build up to the final movie coming out soon to a theatre near you.
There is a major spoiler alert at the end that makes up for the whole movie, but it doesn't come close to all this plot that went to waste on such a terrific trio.
So do you waste your time on this movie you might ask?
And my answer is...of course.
What's the point of waiting for part 3 to come out without all this anticipation. You need to feel like you can't wait for that last part. I believe its all apart of the fun of going to see a movie like this.
Just like back in the day when we all were waiting for Back to the Future part 3 to come out.
Same feeling Different movie.
So go waste your 2 hours and 30 minutes cause its all worth it for that last 2 minutes at the end.
HEHEHEHEHEHE
I can't wait for you to see it.
