Flyboys was a really interesting movie

I really can't say that I loved Flyboys but I sure did not hate it. Far from it, I really liked this movie.
It had a wonderful feeling to it that really needs to be seen. This is what I mean by interesting.
I had no idea thatthis story even existed and I find it very ... well interesting.
Did you know that our boys went to France to help them out with the World War I before President Truman authorized it.
We went over there to lend a helping hand before Truman even entered the war.
That is nice to know. Since we really haven't had the best relationship with France, its good to know that men decided to do what was right before they were told to do so.
I heard that the idea was floating out there and that the producers were more interested in making the movie right rather then letting Hollywood toy with it. So they went ahead and did it on their own. Sound familiar.
James Franco is such an amazing actor but for some reason I just think he's at his best in the Harry Osborn role in Spiderman. I believe its Sam Raimi's direction and his true talent than anything else. Having said that, He's good here and very charming as the love torn fighter pilot in love with the poor French girl.
The French actors had our guys hands down and their acting was much more believable, but our boys did one hell of a job. And it was nice to see the brother from Invasion doing other things.
Did I think this movie was worth the 7 bucks I paid for it...sure. If for anything, support creators who want to do something outside the normal. Who want to try something different.
Thanks guys for a wonderful experience.

the Illusionist was Magical indeed

Edward Norton is by far the best actor of our times.
He has many actors that vie for his title and some come very close to his absolute brilliance still holds the championship.
Case in point. The Illusionist finds you right inside your heart then travels into your mind while tingling your senses into pure bliss. Edward likes to pick rolls that push the envelope and this one is no exception. As the main character Eisenheim was this magician in the 1900's who dared to fall in love with the upper class. He being a simple carpenter's son could never dream to aspire to that level. He travels to the Far East and Russia picking up little pieces of a much larger puzzle. Years go by and he finds himself defending his upper class sweet heart from a ruthless Prince bent on over turning his father and running his country like he does his women...with a fist of fury.
This movie isn't really a great mystery as I solved most of the riddles, but it is a terrific drama that soars into the mind and rips the heart asunder.
Rufus Sewell is the aforementioned Prince and its so nice to see him play his wacky ruthless self again. Truly the man scares me with that lazy eye of his.
Paul Giamatti is quick becoming the best character actor of our time. Everything he touches these days are brilliant and stunning. Bravo to you Paul I'll keep an eye on you.
The upper class sweetheart was the best mystery to me since I had no idea who it was until the credits rolled. It was Jessica Biel and that just blew me away. When did Jessie become such a wonderful actress like almost over night. I was very pleased with her performance and now have confidence that when Oscar time comes around we'll have an actress to place in the best category. Keep it going Girl!
Just like the locket in this movie, there are such sweet delightful twists and turns that make this more of a fantastic drama then any mystery should be.
You will believe that with imagination anything is possible.

Hollywoodland leaves me feeling less than SUPER

My main complaint with this movie is at no point does the director or the producer or the writer or even the freaking actors...anyone for God's sake...mention the damn title and what it's meaning is to this story plot.
I was thinking to myself that Hollywoodland was the original name for Hollywood until a fire destroyed the "Land" part and they just left it as Hollywood, but what does it have to do with George Reeves and the whole scandal of his death?
My mom remembers very clearly how George Reeves killed himself by jumping out of a window in his Superman costume but here in the movie he shoots himself.
I left this movie with so many questions that it'd take a master detective like say BATMAN to answer any of them.
I really can't say I liked this movie and I really want to say it. I heard so many great things about it that I really really wanted to like it.
But sadly it left to much to be desired and I can't really say much more than that.
Diane Lane and Adrien Brody were stellar in their role as Toni Mannix and Mr. Simo spelled
S.I.M.O. (that's a scene in the movie that I liked alot). If it were not for their performances than this movie would have sank. I must admit they had a wonderful feel to them.
Well let me not be so harsh on the rest of the cast. As Eddie Mannix, Bob Hoskins did a terrific job and the young actor Zach Mills who played Brody's kid was perfect as the 50's kid. Looked like they went back in time and plucked him right outta there. It was nice to see Robin Tunney doing something other than Celebrity Poker or that little show called Prison Break.
And of course I'll have to mention the Superman himself, Ben Affleck. His portrayal of George Reeves was masterful so much so that he took one of my idols away. Cause I never really saw George in that light but I have always heard he didn't like the role of Superman.
What a shame if this movie were totally real, but we all know that Hollywood adds their falsehoods to everything they touch.
Did I like this movie?
Well I would like to say yes but it really hurt too much to see George Reeves played like such a schmuck.
Oh well there's always Black Dahlia for another look at a Hollywood mystery, but at least they named it right.

The Covenant is for the kiddies

If you are not a 12 year old girl then this movie is just not for you.
The premise is simple. 4 sons of Ipswich are coming to age and they all hold the power of their witch families in them. The switch is that the more they use their powers the more addicted they become with also their bodies age everytime they use.
So...
Use your power you age. Got it.
Power gets addictive the more powerful you become. Got it.
Now we only have one problem. Someone is using and they are causing problem for the others.
Here's where they really F'ed up cause if you bothered to to see the trailer then you saw who the mystery guy was.
But it seems that was a major part of the story line.
So...
Why would the powers that be do a trailer showing a major plot point RIGHT ON THE FREAKING TRAILER!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the major problem I had.
Besides that then I am sure if your under the age of say?....13 then this movie is gonna rock!
Anyone older go somewhere else.
P.S. I got some free passes cause some kids were throwing tabs from cans and it hit my mom. No harm to her and no harm to our wallet. :)
